‘I’m 25, studying in Berlin – and spent £1,600 in one week’

I am part-time at the moment as I am studying for my master’s degree in business management. I have an undergraduate degree in communications from a university in Switzerland, and I decided to keep studying because it is quite common in Germany to get a postgraduate degree, with nearly half of students studying more. My parents pay for my tuition, which is a weight off my shoulders and means that I don’t have any debts or student loans. I am very grateful for their support, which means I can save about €500 (£430) a month for emergencies and fun. I speak English, French, German, Luganda and a bit of Italian, which means that I could work in lots of places. Where I live, my landlord bills me for everything at once so I have a set fee for my heating, electricity and water included in my rent.
